Highly portable spreader bar ends are easy to ship and store. Available in many sizes to fit pipe diameters of 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 26 and 32 inch diameter pipe (see pipe specs).

To design your own spreader bar, you will need to know the span and the load weight as well as any height restrictions that will dictate the sling height above the load. Then review the tables for both the End Cap and Pipe to determine sizes needed.

Use two end caps, one on each end of pipe for capacity of 2x the end cap work load limit.


Each End Cap is proof-tested, ships with certificate.


The Tandemloc
Spreader Bar End Cap
  • Material is steel, painted yellow.
  • Spreader bar assemblies made up of End Caps and cut to length pipe can be proof tested & certified for the loads shown in the chart below upon request.
  • Use two end caps, one on each end of spreader pipe for a capacity of 2x the end cap work load limit.
  • Use manual #SAC25C, included with each set of pipe caps.
  • Because of dimensional modifications, the end caps made after 5/31/2003 may not provide the span or have safety pin hole alignment with spreader pipes made to SAC22P dimensions prior to 5/31/2003. End Caps are available to fit those conditions. Contact your Tandemloc account manager for information.
  • Each pipe cap has a label with data as shown below and the nominal pipe size it fits. Label may say "Sched 60 wall instead of "Sched 80 wall"depending on size of end cap.
  • Each end cap over 8" has one or two D-rings for lifting the end cap only.
  • Please Note: When building a spreader bar assembly using the AC25C End Eye Caps, capacities will be dependant upon using the pipe and span as specified on: Standard Spreader Pipe for Use with AC25C End Eye Caps (AC22P)
  • It is the user's responsibility to conform to the span and the pipe specifications exactly as indicated!
  • Caution: Never use a sling angle of less than specified. NEVER EXCEED THE WORK LOAD LIMIT (WLL) for the pipe, per the span indicated, nor the capacity of the end cap! Failure to stay within these limits could result in lifter assembly failure, leading to property damage, injury or death from a falling load.

Pipe Sleeve  Drawings | Dimensions | About 'Sag' in the Connection

Spreder Bar Joining PipeMake a spreader bar by joining pipe end to end with AG08A00 "PIPE SLEEVES". Easier handling and storage of shorter pipe sections - increase the range of lengths possible through combining sections.

Installation is simple, quick and positive; slide on the pipe, through pin it with the attached pin (Make sure you attach the clip to prevent the pin from coming out.) No time consuming nuts and bolts to mess with or lose. Note that the sleeve can be used in many different locations along the span, not necessarily in the center of the assembly and more than one sleeve can be used, so the possibilities are endless!

Use TANDEMLOC Pipe Connection Sleeves to make different length spreader bars. The removable end caps and sleeves provide economic flexibility for making different lift lengths.

SAG IN PIPE SLEEVE / SPREADER PIPE CONNECTIONS
When using a multi-part pipe and the spreader connective pipe sleeve to build a spreader beam in conjunction with the spreader end caps, Tandemloc Part Number AC25C, the tolerance on all components can cause a concern due the appearance of the unloaded and under loaded spreader system.
TANDEMLOC'S ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT'S STATEMENT REGARDING SAG:
This ‘sag’ in the multi-part spreader systems occurs due to the tolerances between the pipe used and the Tandemloc supplied components. This ‘sag’ is inherent to these systems and becomes more pronounced in large capacity systems, especially those with very long spreads, (distance between spreader system rigging connection points).
The elimination of the ‘sag’ under load is also inherent to the physics of spreader systems. Large capacity multi-part spreader systems being used at substantially less than capacity may not have sufficient compressive loading to fully remove the ‘sag’ but do not create a danger to the proper function of the lift as long as all elements of the above verification process are met.
The process to verify the proper function the spreader system under load is;
Verify all system components are undamaged, including any pipe not supplied by Tandemloc, Inc.
Verify all assembly instructions have been followed.
Verify that all retaining hardware is in place and retainer pins are in place.
Verify all rigging in use is in place, undamaged and of proper capacity for the lift being planned.
Load the system by performing a low height lift, that is lift the load fully off the base surface by several inches. Once done verify that the ‘sag’ of the multi-part spreader system is being reduced from the ‘sag’ present when the multi-part spreader system is suspended while in an unloaded condition.
If the ‘sag’ is reduced under load vs. the unloaded but suspended condition it is safe to lift.
If the ‘sag’ is increasing under load immediately discontinue the lift, unload the multi-part spreader system by setting down the load and fully inspect the system for proper condition, tolerances and assembly.

From 3" to 32" OD steel pipe, Tandemloc stocks various sizes and can cut to length and prepare the pipe, making it ready to use upon delivery. We will drill the holes in the correct locations, paint and label the pipe according to the appropriate working load limit (capacity) for your kit.

We can also proof-test the assembled kit and provide certification. Otherwise the pipe is not proof tested; only the End Caps are proof tested. The pipe we specify meets the load demands experienced by the spreader pipe portion of the assembly. They are certified to the material specification & test report received from the pipe manufacturer and for the work load limit noted in the pipe chart when used with the appropriate End Caps and conform to the lift angles noted on this drawing and the end caps.
The pipe producer's material test report is attached to the TANDEMLOC certification. If supplying your own pipe, it is critical that you purchase the correct pipe, meeting the correct ASTM designation and all other specifications contained on drawing SAC22P.

With Spreader Bar End Caps, you will always be ready to make that lift. Spreader Bar End caps are available for heavy loads and can be shipped by common carrier. They are relatively easy to install and built to last. Spreader Bar End Caps are proof tested by TANDEMLOC. Also, see our pipe connection sleeves which allow you to quickly create longer spreader spans.

PLEASE NOTE: Competitors have a style with the top shackle hole location designed for a specific sling angle (45° assumed.) This design puts the shackle pin location above the pipes centerline and eccentric to the bottom lift hole. If an angle other than 45° is used, the loads couple introducing additional bending loads to both top shackle hole and spreader pipe, reducing its useable length. Tandemloc's end caps apply loads to the pipe in a strictly axial direction at any sling angle (from 0 to 89°) maximizing the column strength of the spreader. In this way, the TANDEMLOC end caps offer the greatest possible variety of spans and capacities.
